PrEP Truvada
      #274972 - 01/23/14 05:00 PM

Hello all

I have an appointment with my I'D doc next week to consult hwr about starting Truvada. I was wanting to hear from people who have taken it either as PrEP, PeP, or as a part of your HIV treatment regime. Any side effects, precautions, or tips? Thanks so much in advance

I have been on different meds 3 times in 20 years. And I'm pretty sure Truvada was one of them . Believe me your going to do fine. You may experience some side effects or you may not. I always pray over my medication befor taking . If it doesn't agree with you there are other choices. Give it 3 months before making any judgement on it. You'll do fine. YOu can pm me anytime you want , whether your having problems or not. But you'll be fine.

Thank you. I appreciate that. And I just called my insurance company and hi dont have to get prior approval and its a tier 2 drug, meaning my co-pay will be low. I'll keep everyone posted as I began this process later this week

After consulting with my ID doc, we both decided that PrEP wasn't right for me. I still believe in it, but the risk of contracting thr virus and developing resistance to Truvada and all nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors was her biggest concern. And I agree. Until im in a committed relationship only will we revisit this.

However I am apart of. Clinical trial for black MMS and truvada adherence. So I dont know if I still want to do that or not.
