I had my labs and my CD4 665, VL 11,939. I tested poz over a year ago, then was tested this past October. I suggest you go get the meds. I start in a weak on Stribild, that's what the doctor recommended.

Why? You seem to be controlling the virus quite well for the time being. Your CD4 is up and your Viral Load, while not undetectable is not very high. If you aren't ready to start, then don't. If you aren't ready to commit to the daily taking of your medication, you run a risk of missing doses which can lead to resistance of not only the medication you aren't taking properly, but the entire class that medication covers.

Keep an eye on your numbers and if you find they start going the wrong way, then you will need to rethink your need for medication.

You know helpmeunderstand, this is really a decision for you but also an informed decision by you and your medical team ... they know you best. Coming onto a site like this and posting your numbers and then asking if you should or should not take meds is not really making that informed decision!

As for side effects, medication (all medications HIV right down to cough syrup) have different side effects for different people, if any at all for some. I was informed by my medical team regarding Atripla the many side effects "that I could" experience, there was nothing. The meds worked I am floating in that area of undetectable with an ever increasing cd4 count of 500 now (up from single digits last Feb/13), it's a good experience. I don't regret starting meds, even though I really didn't have options, but for me to take HIV off my life plate of worry and have it being basically just a pill everyday ... makes great sense (especially when you have HIV, you have it, why toy around).

Again though, talk this over with your doctor, if a med doesn't work for you based on side effects, talk to your medical team, they will set you up with a new one until they find the one that works for you! I mean after all a few side effects vs. getting deathly ill with an HIV related illness ... hmmm!

Your numbers are good, and yes many "experts" on this site and any site can tell you, you really don't need to take meds! Keep in mind your doctor knows you best ... this is still kind of llike those radio shrinks, fix your life problems between the commercial breaks!
