Sister having issues...
      #244991 - 03/16/09 09:03 PM

My sister was recently diagnosed as +. She is/was a nurse thats how it was contracted. Her daughter had an accident and lost her foot. When her daughter was in surgery to revise the stump she started to bleed out.My sister had just been tested for HIV and it was inconclusive at the time. Her child needed blood and she was told at the time that she was probably negative so she did a direct donate. Now her daughter is + and my sister has become full blown. She does not want to see or speak to her daughter becuse she feels that she has given her daughter a death sentence. She is in another state in a hospital she has tried to commit suicide twice. Her doctor has told that she has maybe two yrs because she was also diagnosed with dialated cardio myopathy. In the past year she has had resistant MRSA which led to her losing her bladder, kidneys, and a lung. All of which she was lucky enough to be a donor recipiant from someone who was HIV+. How do I convince her that she needs to spend her time with her child and not "run" from her.

You need to get the hospital social worker to talk with her. Or contact an AIDS organization near the hospital. Mabye they have volunteers who can visit her. Also contact religious groups...maybe someone can visit her and hear her pain.
