I used to draw blood for a living
      #1020 - 03/30/00 10:52 PM

I used to draw blood for a living 13 years ago and that I when I
stuck my self with a needle used on an AIDs patient. I have
tunred up negative until one day. I've been with my gay partner
for 15 years. My partner is fine.

November 17, 1987, I was admitted into the hospital with
respiratory arrest and slipped into a coma and was on a
ventilator for 36 days. Upon wakening from the coma I learned
that I had had a stroke about eleven months prior and that I had
AIDS. My viral load was 269,000 and my t cells were 8. I learned
that I had double pneumonia, PCP and I was expected to die
momentarily. 1 percent chance of survival.

I had HIV dimentia and brain damage, and neuropathy, very
painful. This is an advanced case of AIDS.

I woke up to a nighmare, my worst nightmare, but now I had to
live in this nightmare.

THERE IS HOPE

After 5 months of taking these new meds, the protease inhibitor
and all, my viral load is untectible and my T cells are 300.

My neuropaty is still painful. Dimentia I'm, better I guess. The
stroke is not any better. I walk with a cane. It is hard to
swallow these pills, but I now take it in cough syrup form.
Tastes like peppermint schnaaps, and is about 44 percent alcohol.
The syrup doesn't seem to make me feel as sick as taking 14 pills
a day.

But THERE IS HOPE.
