My doctor has me on

* Eat 5–6 servings of fruits and vegetables per day, or approximately 3 cups. Eat a variety of colors for a full range of nutrients.

* Aim to have 50% of your carbohydrates come from whole grains.

* Choose lean protein sources such as skinless chicken breast, fish, extra-lean cuts of pork and beef, and low-fat dairy products.

* Limit added sugar, sweets, and soft drinks; they are low in nutrient density and cause spikes in glucose levels.

* Have a serving or more of nuts, seeds, or legumes per day.

* Whether eating a full meal or snacking, include all 3 macronutrients: protein, carbohydrates, and a little fat.

yeah, good plan!

the US 2010 dietary guidelines are pretty much more of the same.

and i would also add to watch out for so-called "healthy" snacks that really aren't, like most energy bars, granola and smoothies, anything that's high in sugar and calories, but low on protein and fiber!

I've found the best diet is the one you can follow. Making to many changes in a diet all at once is almost impossible for anyone. That being said what I have done is slowly added/enhanced my diet. I ate well to begin with my normal habits being that of a Mediterranean diet being Italian-American, but needed to tweak some of the amounts and snacks.
I started off adding more whole grain bread, not a big fan of the stuff. Waited till I was comfortable with that change and could keep it up to move on to the next step and cut out the chocolate. (Well at least limit it to dark chocolate and not as much. lol)

The idea here is to start with small steps and build yourself into a new healthy diet. I still need to work on eating more per day and to stop my vanilla coke-cola addiction , but that will come as well.

Lots of tomatoes and olive oil and less veg oil/corn oil. Also buy a cookbook (not Paula Deans unless you really want a heart attack.lol) that has full meals planned out. I found a cookbook makes it easier to get the servings of your carbs/proteins/fats/fruits/veggies with it. Plus it helps to keep it interesting cause I hate the same thing all the time. I get mine at a bargain book store. It's also a great way to be social.

yeah, it always goes back to whatever works best for each individual. and everything in moderation. with plenty of exercise, or at least some.

good point about grabbing a cookbook. cooking is usually cheaper and healthier than eating out (depending on where you usually go) and plus it can help relieve stress!

Vegetables are no doubt good and there is nothing bad in taking that but what i feel is something else i mean only having veggies isn't appropriate but having meat and other things in moderation has no side effects on the body.

I agree with you, Eat everything you think is healthy especially vegetables and fruits. To add on it, I think one must drink Vitamins too as a supplement.
