I recently slept with a guy in the airforce. we were protected, and i asked him about his sexual history. he said he was ok and that he was recently tested b/c he might have been deployed (ended up not being deployed overseas) and when we talked about hiv in the airforce, he said that would be it and that his career would be over if he had it. the month he was tested in was not his birth month. could he have been lying to me?

You can't tell if anyone is positive or negative, or has sexually transmitted diseases by asking! You have to have protected sex! Maybe they don't even know...
When you get to know someone better, you may be able to be really honest with each other and then you'll know to trust him or not! But you don't know where he was last night! Maybe he was getting infected!

IF you had protected sex then you only have to worry about a couple of stds, not HIV

I am in the military, and I do know that you have to a neg test within six months or you are nondeployable. But if he had anything he would know by now because they have to inform you. But I am for certain that you will not deploy. Hope this helps
