HPV and HIV are 2 completley unrelated seperate viruses. HPV has about 30 different strains, is EXTREMELY contagious, and not all are types of warts. HPV can cause cervical cancer in a very small % of cases, but what you probably had was an abnormal pap smear so they will monitor you. You probably caught it from your husband who maybe did not know he had it, or from someone else. The strain you have obviosly does not cause warts, thats how come you did not know you had it. But about 1 in 4 women have some sort of HPV so it is very common. Don't freak out too much about it, just keep getting your paps.

The only way to find out is by going to your doctor and get an Aids test anyways even though im sure you dont have it. , maybe you caught it from your daughter or you wearing the same underwear or maybe you had your underwear lying around in the bathroom and she may have wiped herself with it. I cant think of any way you and your daughter would have it, if she had it first and you were faithful to your husband, or using the same soap to wash your self with., whatever it is, I wish you luck

Hi, HPV is one of the most common STD's so there's probably millions of other women out there who have it. I had symptomatic HPV when I was about 20. I had to undergo laser surgery to have the warts removed. l later on tested + for HIV, but I was about 27 at the time. I am not sure if I got these from the same guy but I know that HPV does put one at risk for HIV. My cousin is perfectly healthy but her PAP smear result came back saying she has HPV. She is HIV neg and no more healthy than I am. I also know that certain strains of HPV (Human papilloma virus) are associated with an increased risk for cervical and vulval cancer. I was advised to have a pap smear every six months and I would advise you to do the same. As for your daughter, I don't know how old she is but this could mean that she is sexually active and its not suprising that the first thing she would contract would be HPV due to its commonness. It was the first thing I contracted from my first partner. Do not feel dirty! I think there's so much of it that its hard to avoid it (harder for a married person) especially since it may show no visible symptoms for years.
