4th Annual Sisters for Life Conference

Sisters for Life, Inc. is currently accepting scholarship requests for the
4th Annual Sisters for Life Conference. The conference, "Declaration of
War: Continuing the Battle Against HIV/AIDS" will be held in Paris, France
April 22-26, 2003. Pre-conference activities begin April 18th.

The conference will bring continued support and collaboration to our Sisters
and the children left behind in Africa, the Caribbean, Haiti, the United
States and throughout the African Diaspora whose lives have been devastated
by HIV/AIDS

Women of African descent and our children are the most vulnerable to this
disease, yet we have little or no voice or power in the influencing and
guiding the response to the crisis. Sisters throughout the Diaspora are
under attack!

This year's conference will provide Sisters and Brothers and other concerned
individuals who are policy makers, heads of organizations, professionals
involved in HIV/AIDS prevention and control, researchers, private, business
and corporate sectors, people living with HIV/AIDS, affected communities,
faith-based organizations, international development agencies, grassroots
activists, philanthropists, medical professionals, celebrities, journalists,
and other interested groups, and concerned individuals a voice as well as
the opportunity to share the most recent advances in knowledge, experiences,
skills, technology, care and economic development and empowerment mechanisms
which are related to, and which impact women of African descent, and our
children.

The conference will be another giant step in mitigating the casualties of
this war as we mobilize and empower sisters using our words, to discuss our
problems, in our languages, sharing our best practices, using our approaches
to our solutions in an environment of mutual love, respect and compassion
for one another.

Sisters who are grassroots activists, caregivers, medical professionals,
working for or heading grassroots organizations and individuals who are
unable to afford the cost of the trip should:

1. Write a brief letter of request telling us who they are, about their work
or involvement in their community, why they would like to attend the
conference and how their attendance will benefit their friends, family,
neighbours and community as well as themselves.

2.Request must include the passport number, complete mailing address and
contact information, departure cities and travel dates.

3. Request their specific needs, i.e., if they need air, hotel, meals or
a full scholarship. Please apply only for what you really need so that the
most needy may have an opportunity to attend.

Scholarship requests must be received no later than February 15th. No
requests will be considered after that deadline. No exceptions. We cannot
guarantee anyone a scholarship. Only approved requests will be contacted.
If you do not hear from us, it means that your request was not funded.
