woman 2 woman
      #207961 - 09/21/06 05:21 PM

me and my girl have been going together for almost 5 years. I am + she is - I just found out about my status 1 year ago and was told I may have had the virus for about 10-15 years. At this time I am still detectable but my cd4 is steady climbing. My question is, is she safe from not catching the disease from me since she has not caught it by now?

She is as long as you practice safer sex. I thought the same. I hadn't become infected and I even had become pregnant, but I was still negative. Stayed negative for two years. Figured if I hadn't gotten it by then, I never would. I was wrong.

Use condoms each and every time for penetrative sex and you will be just fine.

are you referring to the woman getting pregnant or me? in terms of possiblly getting/transmitting the disease. Is oral sex considered penetration. OMG the dental dam taste awful, no where as awful as I would feel if she caught the disease from me

What kind of nutty question is this. Unless you make a clear and dilligent effort to make sure your partner is safe the answer is YES she could get infected.

High risk fluids are semen, (not your problem) blood and vaginal fluids. If you care about her you'll keep her safe even if it means a few compromises.
