Diabetes and new meds?????
      #3772 - 05/04/00 02:22 PM

My partner is on a bunch of new meds, during his last visit they had a poster which was looking for people to take part in a study that these new meds might cause diabetes. I was shocked, asked him about it, but didn't push the subject. Should I have? He does have neuropothy from DdI, Ddc, or was it AZT (one of the three), he just had a gal bladder attack, which might have been "AIDS related," they don't know, they also found inclusions on his liver. I am scared shitless to think he might get/develop diabetes as well. Any advice? It's just so frustrating sometimes , it's like isn't this enough?????

i am turning 15 years with HIV in just a few months. my experience with antiretrovirals is slim. i cannot tolerate any of them. I have only taken seven different antivirals, viramune is without question one of the most vile, perhaps only exceeded by ddc.
all of these HAART drugs can have unbelievable side effects.
these side effects are frequently hidden by the by illness and it is difficult to determine if, its the drugs or the disease.
I suggest that you, go to the center for disease control web site and read the guidelines for the use of antiretrovial agents in hiv infected adults and adolescents. in this 50 some page document you will encouter a link to CLASS ADVERSE EVENTS. THIS SUPPLEMENT begins, "SEVERAL CLASS RELATED ADVERSE EVENTS HAVE BEEN RECOGNIZED WITH ANTIRETROVIRAL DRUGS DURING THE POST MARKETING PERIOD." this means after they sold about 10 billion dollars with of this %&·")?¿ they started finding problems.
good luck, your partner really needs you right now. your support will be of greater benefit than any other element. because, the depression that comes from failing health and a failing treatment program can create a paralysis which will make it impossible to seek or recieve help.
