It would be interesting to hear from anyone that has been on antivirals for a long time(more than 4 years continously)that have minimal or NO side effects. Physical(appearence wise as well as internal) IF anyone out there falls into this catagory I'm sure many would love to hear from you for encouragement. Also, it would be helpful to know your particular regimen and even any little things that happened even if they resolved. I know there is no one size fits all ion hiv treatment, but the more imformation from real pozzies on real drugs can empower us.

Hi! I have been on Viracept (5 pills, twice a day, around 7 am and 7 pm, with food)and Combivir (one pill twice a day with the Viracept). I have very little side effect issues. Basically, there are the digestive issues, but I have learned over time how to manage them. Mostly, to reduce the loose stool I take 600 mg Calcium + D with each dosing. Plus, eating one 8oz container of yogurt before bed time helps eliminate the loose stool. Actually, the diarhea side effect has helped me get better overall with my diet. I think the viracept interferes with the intestinal absorption of fats. So, now I eat relatively low fat. The yogurt thing I just happened to notice. Now, I have my yogurt at night instead of things like ice cream or other foods that are "bad for me." But, a word of caution...don't do frozen yogurt. That has far more sugar in it than dairy yogurt. The hig sugar can upset things as well. If you want it frozen, just freeze a container of dairy yogurt and stir 'til soft.
