Stopping Med
      #31635 - 04/09/02 05:36 PM

been HIV + since '94. Had some tough times with meds at the beginning (kidney stones, etc), but since switching to Sustiva/Combivir it's been heaven. no problems, easy, easy schedule. Today (09APR02) My droc advised that I should consider taking a break (stop taking med.) HELP I was in shock at the suggestion, but he thinks it's okay. Is anyone else received similir advise from their Doc?

Did you decide to stop?Did you go on meds early (close to seroconversion or did you wait?) My doctor's say the timing of intial treatment have alot to do with dxing treatment and I wish my doctors would tell me to take a break, but they are more conservative and I guess they don't want me to lose my high cd4 count(1000)but if they suggested it I'd do it,but that's just me, if you don't feel totally at ease with stopping and there's no medical reason you have too, listen to yourself, brcause your mind has so much to do with how your body responds to everything. Most importantly discuss EVERY concern with your doctor.....
