i switched from Aptrila to Complera about 4 weeks ago and I've experience terrible stomach issues every since - bloating, cramping, having to go at a moments notice, etc. I've been living on Imodium for 4 weeks - just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing and how did you make it go away. i switched off of Aptrila because the dizziness and sleeplessness were doing me in. I've always been one of thosepeople who would have caught a cold if someone sneezed in a room even before I became poz so its not surprising that my system is being so sensitive. Anyways, any advise anyone has would be great
(if you are newly poz - don't freak out reading this - my sensitivity to meds isn't the norm)

Hace you spoken to the doctors about this? When you were on the Atripla , when did you take it? Nite or morning? To have constant runs is not good. Do take to your doctor. Let me know how it goes.

When I started Complera I had stomach issues arise along with vomiting. It seems the vomiting was attributable to a pre-existing stomach issue. I had bloating and very soft albino looking stools. I also had many sleepless nights on Complera which sleep medication did not always help. Im not currently on Complera, they took me off to deal with GI specialist. I will be restarting it tomorrow and hope the prilosec they prescribed helps me hold down the Complera pills. Eating a good meal, much more than the 400 to 500 calories recommended seemed to help lessen the bloating issue.

i thought i would update my situation here because i'm sure if you are anything like me - if you are reading these forums, you are looking for answers.
the GI issues have completely passed. it took roughly 3 months for my system to get 100%. i started to take metamecil before bedtime each night based on my doctor's recommendation and it totally worked. the one thing i will warn anyone considering going on complera is i've been having issues mentally around taking the 500 calorie meal beforehand. i know its stupid but when you have to eat a meal to take medication - the meal becomes work. its been a real struggle for me and one that i wish i had been prepared for beforehand.

I understand food issues very well. I'm not a 3 meals a day person , and sometimes the only meal I bother with is dinner , and may not eat all of that either, And soon I'll be starting hepc tx which , last 2 rounds, the eating of any food was really difficult. All I can say is do the best you can and inbetween the " meals" find stuff that you have usually liked to eat , even if it's just icecream sodas. Any food is better than no food. I should copy and post this reply on my bathroom mirror for me to see each morning while doing my hep tx. lol

I've been on Complera for three months. My only side effect was it felt like I had an extra cup of coffee the first three or four days. Now I sometimes wonder if I'm on placebo (altho I did go undetect in a month).
Just throwing this out there in case someone reads the original post and feels fearful.

Definitly talk to your doctor . The constant direaha ( sp) isn't good . You can't live on amoodium it blocks the meds, any ant acid isn't a good mix. CHECK WITH DOC 1

Did your GI specialist recommend a sonogram to check out your Gall Bladder? The discolor of your stool is a classic sympton as well as yellowing of skin/eyes and extreme fatigue and loss of appetite. SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE.
