Is this a typical start?
combivir kaletra
Then after 2-3 months he said he would put me on something else. Been positive for about 4 years (never on meds, they are on their way in mail), My current numbers are 528/140,280. Was up at about 690, slowly went down over time, viral load goes between 50,000 and 150,000.
thanks

Any start is a good start. I know those that are on that and others that are on Atripla. It's between you and your doctor.

2 important points.....(1) GET GENOTYPE TEST (2) Report any & ALL reactions to any meds to your specialist... these are vital as this is how to narrow down what is actually gonna be your best treatment options....

I'm troubled and curious why he feels he would need to change your meds after 2-3 months? That goes against everything I have ever learned. The only reason you would change meds is if there is a failure (they no longer are controlling the virus = rising viral load) or if you have a definite intolerance of the meds. Doesn't this seem odd to others?

this isnt odd at all, in fact its quite common.... doctors can only guess (even with a genotype test) what meds MAY work best. sure, their are some who get lucky right off the start and the med combo chosen is a good match for the hosting body, however for many....especially those just starting meds, its a feeling out process.
let me shed a little insight with you all... a doctor has a medical education, while this may be used as the foundation for SOME of their beliefs, it in reality is a small piece to the whole puzzle. They operate on their own beliefs, thus you have diverse group ...some old school, some new school, some fixed thinkers, some free thinkers...none of which have all the answers set in stone* or the same bedside maner, or the same protocal
