"Professor Robert Siciliano: Researchers from Johns Hopkins University and Howard Hughes Medical Institute say they have developed a way to lure out these latent reservoirs in laboratory experiments, possibly paving the way to a cure if repeated in humans.
The model was then tested with 2,400 chemicals, 17 of which coaxed the virus out of hiding, starting up its normal process of replication. In humans, this would make HIV susceptible to drugs. The top performer was the compound 5HN, which is found in the leaves, bark, and roots of the black walnut tree"
Kent from the University of Melbourne further adds: "The findings are an advance that may allow researchers to come up with a drug they could start testing in humans; To get something like that into clinical trials is only a few short years ? it?s not decades,?
Lets hope something works soon so that we can revert to normality!

This is really interesting. Do you have the original link to the article?
For people not familiar with the mechanics of HIV the reason this is note worthy is because HIV medications can only work against the virus that is actively replicating. It can do nothing to destroy latent virus. So the more virus you can get to become active, the more virus medication can kill.
I think it's great that they are looking at natural compounds. We've got a black walnut tree in the back yard. Think I'll go make myself a leaf salad!

There is a doctor, scientist who has treated Aids patients in Mexico with success. Using bio-energy and alternative treatments. corruption in government holds him back from going public.

I am not sure I agree with you Alex; considering the global recession and mounting debt levels, its only in Govts best interest to end this horrible disease as with treatment now, people are expected to live normal lives! so imagine the cost base.
