atripla experience
      #245352 - 04/14/09 05:54 PM

i started atripla about 10 days ago. i thought i would share my experience since i had read about some experiences with the drug that made me very nervous.

i have been pleasantly surprised with the drug thus far.

i was particularly worried, but to date i have had no side effects. i had vivid dreams the first two nights and thus far that has been it. they were quite imaginative in a fun and whimsical manner and with lots of color. vibrant.

nothing yet noticible. just wanted to share my positive experience thus far.

If you want really vivid dream (sometimes they can be awesome) have a bowl of Icecream before taking Atripla. I was told (by the doctor and the pharmacist) the higher the fat content, the stronger the side effect. Thats why you are supposed to take it on an empty tummy.

Re: atripla experience - Any recommended diets? new
      #245892 - 05/28/09 10:52 AM

One week in and a little sluggish in the morning the first few days. I definitely think eating late/high fat made it worse. Overall, no big deal.

Are there any other diet guidelines that folks recommend?

I still have a couple of weeks until I meet my doctor and most likely start meds. The nurse mentioned Atripla as a med I might take. She mentioned nightmares/vivd dreams. Is this something you take at night or in the morning? Sounds fatty foods i.e. fast food, ice cream, etc are not on the menu.

i have yet to hve any nightmares. the vivd dreams i had only lasted a couple days and were pleasant and very colorful.

i posted because i read so many people's bad experiences. to date i have had none. I was so nervous initially, to start, but it was all for nothing, positive so far. i know that isn't everyone's experience. just have a positive attitude and stay in touch/listen to your doctor's advice.

i recall fatty foods would make the sustiva levels high and the side effects would be worse if i ate a steak for dinner.

Im starting to take Atripla this week and little anxious about.

Reading the topics and opinion of other whom have the experience makes me feel relaxed and nervous at the same time.

For sure I will come back to talk about my experience
