People do not test negative or positive on a RNA PCR. He has an undetectable viral load. RNA measures the amount of virus in the blood. Even with an undetectable reading he would have some virus in the blood. The test measures down to 50 copies. Also the RNA does not measure how much virus in the cells, resting in the gut, in the lymph nodes. It only measures whatís in the blood.

The fact he has an undetectable viral load in and of itself is not noteworthy. We all try to achieve an undetectable viral load which is measured by the RNA. The fact this person is doing so without needing medication means they are a Long-term Non-progressor. Not common, but certainly not unheard of. NIH has been doing a long term study on people that can control the virus without medication. Understanding how their bodies do that will go a long way in creating useful, hopefully less toxic treatments for the rest of us.

His antibody is reducing gradually? How in the world is that being measured? People are either positive or negative. There is no graduated degree of positivity. Itís like being pregnant. You either are or you arenít.

So besides the fact you are posting a question based on hearsay, what exactly are you trying to ask? The ways people discover they have HIV hasnít changed. He tested positive on the ELISA and confirmed by Western Blot. It would seem the question as to his status (state) was answered 3 years ago.
