Insurance coverage depends on your carrier. You'll have to talk to your agent or representative. I know that my insurance (through work) doesn't cover 'pre-existing conditions'. Luckily, I'm negative and if I do ever test positive it won't be considered 'pre-existing'.
As far as cost of meds, I can't help you there.

175 a month is incredibly cheap insurance. I pay around 400 for basic no frills insurance here. As for your meds cost...i would keep on the hunt for supplemental programs to help you. But...just as a comparison...i take Nexium and it costs $170 or so a month by ITSELF....and my co pay is 40 dollars. This whole drug cost issue really gets me going. Drug companies are the enemy.

Bear60, Is your insurance through your work? I just couldn't imagine paying that much. That's a car note lol.

I pay 400 a month, and my meds are 35 a pop. I am graced to have Kaiser though and the doctors and clinic here are wonderful.

No...hun..... i pay for my insurance out of pocket...i am self employed. I joined the chamber of commerce to get on their group policy after my Personal Choice went to over 800 dollars a month. ( IT was a great plan...like 5 and 10 dollar co pays) I have a Blue Cross HMO.

As you've probably figured out by now, it's a huge variance as to how much the meds will cost you.
If you investigate your plan and learn that you cannot afford the co-pays, then you may qualifiy for ADAP (AIDS Drug Assistance Program) which may help to cover the shortfall.
if that is the case, contact your local ASO (AIDS Service Organization) to inquire as to how ADAP works in your state (assuming you're in the USA).

Does it depend on the type of company you work for? Because I pay like $10 a month and as soon as my husband gets a ss# it will go up to $40. I pay $10 to see my Primary Doc and $20 to see my ID Doc. When it's time for meds, they told me that I will pay whatever I pay for percriptions now which is $10 a pop. Why is it that it cost so much for you guys?
