Does anyone know anything about the new entry inhibitors? I think Pfizer and Schering both have drugs in development. Should we be hopeful?

Maraviroc from Pfizer is in Phase II trials and will probably hit the market within a couple of years. Even if it doesn't make it there are enough CCR5 inhibitors in the pipeline that something will reach the market. (The risk is that if these drugs work, they may push the virus to switch to using CXRC4 as an entry and these types cause faster disease progression. It seems more rational to take both a CCR5 and CXRC4 inhibitors together as a double-team rather than monotherapy which has not worked before with other drugs)
There are also CXCR4 inhibitors like AMD-070 from Anormed that look promising.
In addition, there are monoclonal antibody entry inhibitors like TNX-355 from Tanox.
PA-457 from Panacos (maturation inhibitor) looks promising and is in Phase II, I think. They will probably make it to market in couple of years.
So, there is some hope for an entire new class of drugs to hit the market in the next 5 years(of which T-20, Fuzeon is an example).
Also, there are advances in new NRTIs and NNRTIs and PIs that will do better against drug-resistant virus. So, there is some hope for more and better meds with lesser side-effects.
Keep a good attitude and do proactive things to keep your immune system healthy: keep a positive attitude, get plenty of sleep, eat right, get some exercise, etc and take your meds if you are taking them like clock work.
