test results after 2 months
      #159965 - 09/14/05 01:58 AM

Hi Everyone.
I've been on Sustiva/Truvada for 2 months.
After one month on treatment, my t-cells went from 248 to 354 and my viral load from 39,000 to 83.
I just got my second month results and my viral load is undetectable but the t-cells dropped to 305. Is this normal?
I'm still so new at this I don't know what to expect. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Yeah that can be normal. Your body may have had some other little "bug" or something it was fighting off. Also you will notice that your CD4 will flucuate. Don't worry too much about those. Your main objective is the VL and yours is OUTSTANDING!!!!! Congratulations. Even your CD4 is great. You had MAJOR improvement in my mind.

Never forget: Life is too precious to take for granted.

What was your T-cell %? At any given point in the day, your T-cells fluctuate dramatically, and they fluctuate even more based upon sample to sample (sometimes you just happen to get more white blood cells in the tube).

As long as your T-cells are over 200, I would recommend paying more attention to the % as opposed to the absolute count. Your % will vary very small amounts from sample to sample. I've had times when my total count dropped, but my doctor was happy because the % showed continued improvement.

Hey those are really good number's for being on those two drugs, just be sure to always take your medication and keep the levels of that medication the same every day. I recall days when AZT was only available you are very lucky to have more choices today..
