Home Testing Kits?
      #117658 - 11/26/04 01:50 AM

I found an online site http://www.htkits.com/ that claims their home testing kits for HIV is 99% accurate. Is there any truth to this? Can I trust those results? Has anyone else used kits like these? Any feedback?

I tried one of these kits after 8 months possible exposure and the test result was negative .But the FDA reports that all home testing kits are unreliable. I am not too confident about the result and probably will have an elisa test done.I emailed the company and asked them the same question but they never replied back

If you are unsure about the results and not comfortable with the home testing kits then you should go get tested by your primary doctor or ask for a referral to an infectious disease doc to have the test done so that you can finally put your mind at ease...Please get re-tested by your doctor if you are not comfortable with the results...its important for your health and the health of others in your life....Good luck..~Jessie~

The FDA has said they don't work and are NOT approved. Good enough for me.

This is not an add I promise, I am a pharmacist that has specialized in HIV treatment. The Express HIV-1 Test System made by Home Access is indeed FDA approved. It is the type of kit that uses a collection method and the results are verified by an independent lab. Its reliability was reported in a peer review magazine (Archives of Internal Medicine 1997; 157:309-314). It does NOT give you your results like a blood sugar machine. Again it is a collection system where you send a sample to an independent lab and anonymously get your results. Hope this helps

Hi,

I actually purchased through www.htkits.com and can no longer find this company. Am currently waiting for next 7 days for accurate results. After believing that htkits reliability for so long. Now after I have had pain in lymph nodes and veins I am worried. Let me know if you ever found that company.
