First Lab Results-Kinda Scared
      #259694 - 12/30/11 11:56 AM

Hello Guys,

I just got in from my doctor and got back my first set of lab results. And the results are as follows: CD4 Count is 886 and my viral load is 465000. Im kinda scared with such a high viral load. So we decided it would be best to start treatment immediately. We decided on Complera, and I will begin taking it on Monday. Has anyone had such a high viral load and did your treatment bring it down?

Many have had high viral loads. Your meds will take care of that. Just be prepared for some side effects. But that too shall pass.

while that seems high in many aspects, really its not all that high on the BIG picture.... get on some meds, and take care of yourself, it'll pass quicker than ya think....

Hi!

My girlfriend's VL was over 300,000 and her CD4's were 67, when she was diagnosed in June of 2011. About four months after starting the Atripla meds (Truvada+Stocrin) here VL was undetectable and her CD4's were over 300. Before starting treatment, we had her virus genotyped and sensitivity tested (same as I did) to make sure the meds were correct for her.

Be sure to adhere to your meds strictly, eat well, exercise and take good care of yourself. All the recent studies are showing that starting medication early, before your CD4's drop quite low gives people better long-term results, as long as they adhere to their meds and follow their health closely.

Be patient with your meds the first few weeks/months while your body adjusts. I had some really annoying side affects the first few days, which tapered off after a few weeks. By 4-5 months, I no longer had ANY side affects and continue that way. I have found that diet and exercise helps a lot in keeping myself well managed.

Best of luck to you and please keep us posted. PM me if you want to talk about anything. Cheers!
