These days if you have a good doctor and follow their orders on medications, then you have a 98% chance of giving birth to a perfectly healthy negative baby. You should be having this conversation with your doctor, they are going to be the best possible help. Good luck on your new bundle of joy.. D

Mntwana...........I would like to say that people from all over the world post here. The information you are giving us is largely useless. We would need to know a lot more about you: where you live and if you have a doctor for starters. I also want to caution you that this bulletin board is mostly for support and not for diagnosis. If you have questions for a doctor there is an ASK THE EXPERTS section that allows you to ask real doctors questions about HIV health care That said, good luck with the new baby.

Hello My family member signed me up for this site. He thought it would help me connect with other postitive people. My name is Ally Justesen. I am 18 years old. I have a baby girl who is one year old. I recently found out I was Hiv positive on march 3. I cought intrest in your profile. your count is good I wish mine was that high my cdc cound is 400 and my vl is 17,000 last I checked. I am pretty sure that you will have a healthy negative baby I want to have another one so I have been talking to my hiv doctors about it. they told me that when the baby is born they can give it a medicen to where the baby will not have it but it doesnt always work. another doctor told me that most babys when they are born they will have it but most of them after six to nine months dont have it because when they are born they are born with your blood but between six to nine months they dont have it because it flushes out most of them get or develop theyr own blood. Im pretty sure that with the technologies they have now that you should be able to have a healthy baby. but in all honesty all you can do is hope and pray. do the best and what you can. about the vaginarial problem I would try talking to your doctor or someone other. i would also go for a pelvic exam to see is just incase it might be another type of std. I understand where you are comming from. It is hard to be a young single teenage mom because I always have that scare of giving it to the baby. i have to be really care full about sharing things, slips and falls, and its hard cause she doesnt understand why she cant drink off the same or bite off the same stuff. but it is wourking out well. well I hope that you do have a healthy hiv negitave baby talk to your nurses and let me know if there is any other advice i can give or help you with

Thanks a lot guys for ur support coz i asked some of the experts before i posted my question to a group but didnt get any reply so i though may be someone went through the same situation, unfortunately i jst got a job now and that means i m not on medical aid schem yet thats why i dont even Know my VL but ill check it from private clinics, and im not sure if in gorvement hospitally they do provide proper care during pregnancy, i hope they do coz my nurse told me they only provide naverapine medication once on your seven months and a drop/pill during delivery, but ill ask if they do provide medication for the baby after birth, oh with the vaginal problem thank God is sorted out the antibiotics worked afterwards, and by the way im in SA

Hi Mntwana.... I am new on this forum and I too am from SA, johannesburg and I am also pregnant and received my results that i was positive on the 14th May 2008. I am scared slightly though as i am also worried about my unborn child. I am going to take ART's as they reduce the mother to child transmission. I have decided to have a C-section for delivery as it reduces the risk of hiv transmission. Use the Body website as it has the most valuable and informative information about HIV and I also support the idea that you speak to your doctor about the best possible way for your health and your unborn child. I know that it is scary to discover that you are positive when you are supposed to be excited about the new life you are about to bring to this world. In SA most clinics do offer ART's to pregnant women and monitor your progress regarding HIV. I would like to hear more from you
