The numbers are in!!!
      #186155 - 04/12/06 08:45 PM

I just got back from the doctor. My initial labs, drawn about 3 weeks ago, so about 2 months after exposure were:

Viral load 43,600 Log 4.6
CD4 569

I'm happy, the doctor is happy - what a relief!! Good news is a welcome thing right now.

DJ - Happy Dance.. Your body is dealing very well with the virus! Did you happen to get your percentage? cd4/cd8? Breath easy!

No, he didn't give me the percentage, and I was so nervous and excited that I didn't ask. I will next time - I go back in 3 months. I'll also be talking to the nurse next week, because I had a complete physical today, including Pap smear - so maybe I'll ask her.

if you were exposed only 2 months ago, why were you so worried you'd have bad numbers?

because some people will spike high viral load counts and low cd4 counts, therefore making them have to start meds immediately.
daisey

congrats on the counts. i know it is always a relief when you get news like that. looks like you are holding your own :)

That's wonderful! Who knows they might even go up more. I mean its only been what 2 months after exposure right? I sometimes wish that I had known so early in the infection. I don't know maybe I wouldn't have had that two day bender that seemed to happen just about every dag on weekend lol.

I got my CD4 percentage new
      #186418 - 04/14/06 01:20 PM

My CD4/CD8 percentage is 24% - that's kind of low, right? What does that mean? Anything ominous?

Lets say <14.5% equals AIDS in a perfect world. Anything higher than this value is considered HIV. The higher your vl goes the faster your cd4's deminish. You take all these together for a well rounded look at where you stand.

See, its not the beginning of the end. ITs the beginning of a new beginning in your life. Ok, that doesnt make much sense, but I think u get the idea. BUt there wilkl be many new beginnings in your journey as HIV+.
