Update after first Doctor's visit
      #170106 - 01/17/06 03:40 PM

Thanks to everyone for your support here. It has been a blessing this first week. I just got back from my first visit with the HIV specialist. Basically it was... let's draw blood, check you over, send you on your way, and see you again in six weeks. Nothing major. Unless the numbers come back bad they will just be monitoring for a while. Their philosophy is to let your body handle this as long as it can and not go on meds till the T count gets down toward 200 or the VL is over 100,000 or evidence of some sort of infections.

I'm still very scared, but the doctor was clear in saying that in most cases this is a chronic manageable disease with advances in treatment coming all the time.

The doctor basically said to get on with living life and not let this overshadow things (but to be careful and of course to practice safe sex ALL the time).

I am thrilled to hear that your doctor has treated you well - medically and mentally. Just like Eric will tell you - don't spend your life savings! - you will be around until your 90 years old. Where do you live? We should all go skiing some time.

Jenn, I'm in Missouri. St. Louis is where my house is although I work way out of the city actually closer to Memphis than St. Louis. Complicated situation but it has worked for me for five years so far. I have never been skiing unless water skiing counts.

Snow skiing is really over rated. Use to ski 150 days a year for 10 years.. Burned out I guess.. Dont live your dreams Skiing that much!! Try something like Cliff diving or, base jumping. Something nice, but not to expensive.

Sorry to disturb u. Actually i am doing this posting, and hopefully u can answer me. My exposure was also in june 2005. u were found to be positive in January 2006?did u do any blood test during the time of June 2005 to december 2005? Also, i just wanna know, do u have like skin hardened on your palms??Seriously right....for me....i can see the letter "A" on my right palm due to the corns that i have in the center on my plam and it always feels like burning, Just yesterday, i felt some swelling under my armpits....sigh....very scared. I am 100% not messing around ya'!I am just scared! When u say lympth nodes, is it transparent in colour?also how big are those??coz i am getting a few transparent ones like mosquito bites....and i am really terrified! The location of these so called mosquitos are near my chest, and beside my nipple.

Help me please!!

Buro. Was was reading your post. I presume you have not gotten tested? Dont be frightened about this. Think about it as that you are taking care of yourself. ESPECIALLY your emotional state. Just because you have these things going on means nothing. I am about ready to go on meds and have none of the things you describe. Your worry will go on and on and on until you go get tested. Trust me on this. It wont go away... It will always be lurking about your brain.. Keep talking!!

Much better spirits is a good way to say it. The visit just had a calming effect. It's not a walk in the park but there is a lot of hope and every day there is a chance for a new breakthrough.

No testing prior to Dec. 2005. Symptoms tell you nothing. Actually, in my case, my doctor suspected cancer and HIV was the furtherst thing from her mind.

Right now I want to do parasailing... well not right here in the middle of winter. But when spring comes that's something I'm going to do.

i have gotten the test. i think my last exposure was in june or july 2005. my latest test was in 15th january 2006.The reason y i am worried is because on my right palm, if i look at it clearly, i can see the letter "A".. i am not sure if this is the nature's way of saying....you're infected. Thats y i need to know so that i know whether i should be worried or not. A lot of people tell me that if i pass a 13 week test than it is conclusive. But dear sirs, waking every morning seeing your palm with the letter "A" is really very stressful. Please help me!!TQ

You sound like you are doing ok. Keep up the good work.Just be sure to keep an eye on things. It's 20 months since my exposure and my fourth month on meds. In hindsight I may have not let my t cells slip to 190 as my meds are no problem (stocrin(sustiva), Emtriva and Viread).
Keep on soaring !
