My husband's sister has full blown AIDS...
      #37512 - 07/25/02 02:42 PM

Subject: Help! I have a situation I need some input on

My husband has a sister who has aids. No one knows he has this sister except me and his parents, but it's not because she
has aids. She was a prostitute and a heroin addict for over 10 years, and my husband has been angry with her over it for many
many years, and had cut off contact with her. A few years ago, he found out his sister had contracted the hiv virus. He was so
angry about the way she had lived her life, that even this news didn't prompt him to contact her. 1 year ago, she cleaned herself
up and is trying to live a clean life. He still wouldn't have anything to do with her. A few days ago, his father called to say she was
very ill and was in the hospital on heavy doses of morphine and her immunity level was dangerously low. She is expected to be
in the hospital until October 2002, upon which time they'll put her back into rehab to get her cleaned up from the morphine. I don't
know that she will ever leave the hospital.

Knowing this latest news, my husband has been thinking about his sister alot and last night, he broke down sobbing over his
loss already and the loss to come.

Can someone please tell me how I should react in this sort of situation? How can I comfort him? How can I encourage him to
contact her before it's too late?

Thank you.

SOCIETY HAS MADE US FEEL THAT NO MATTER HOW BADLY ANOTHER HAS HURT YOU YOU WILL SUFFER IF YOU DONT FORGIVE THEM. WOULD SHE BE MAKING HIM FEEL ALL THIS GUILT IF SHE WASNT SICK. AND STILL GETTING HIGH. SHE GOT HER LIFE, IT WASNT HIS FAULT. HE SHOULD SHE HER BECAUSE HE SIMPLY CHOSE TO. NOT BECAUSE IT JUST BECAUSE IT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
I HOPE YOU DO'T SUFFER TOO MUCH BECAUSE OF HIS FAMILY,

I am sorry to hear all of this about your husband sister. My thoughts are as follows, yes she did have a different life then he did, but she is still his sister and is in great time of need. Tell him this, if he never sees her and she dies he will have to live with that the rest of his life and thats a hard thing to live with. I hope my little input has helped you. Take Care.

I would like to say to you that you and your family will be forever in my prayer's. Now that the damage is done it is time to stand by her side because that is what GOD would do. I pray that she accepts Christ as her personal Savior prior to her demise. Ask your husband to go see her and ask her to accept Christ as her personal Savior so that she will have a happy after life in a wonderful place we call Heaven. I just found out yesterday that my dad has AIDS and it has knocked me off my feet but I tell you one thing, I will not pass blame on him because he needs all the support he needs at this point.

I surely hope this helps and you and your family stay prayerful.
