New here Serodiscordant couple
      #252741 - 10/26/10 10:40 PM

Hello all, so happy to have found this site.....my husband and I have been married for 16+ years and found out almost 3 years ago now that he is HIV+ , we have not told anybody with the exception of his parents. I SO wish there was not this stigma attached to this virus.....I hate that we / I have nobody to talk to who are in the same situation. We are also wanting to have more children and are trying to do all our research ( his VL is has been undetectable shortly after starting Atrilpla when he was diagnosed) Would love to chat with others who are in the same situation....There really are no support groups where we live or none that I can find.

Take care & kooking forward to *meeting* you all

-Jules

Hi jules (faith07)

I'm hearing you loud and clear. My partner (Female) has been positive 5 years and I am Negative (Male). My Partner is the most wonderful, beautiful, intelligent, sexy woman on earth. Her viral loads are also undetectable and the intamcy we share, is dare I say it absolutley wild and safe.
I have tried in vain to find support groups for negative partners living in a Serodiscordant relationship, to no avail. They just dont want to know me, only My partner.
So here I am. searching site after site to chat with people in the same boat.
Any questions I had, have had to find by myself. which is rewarding in itself, regardless of the contradictions each site has. LOL.

If you ever feel like a chat. respond and I'll give you my email. My partner would also be interested in chatting. Lets get rid of the stigma and move forward...

Cheers

Jeff

Hi,

I'm glad you mentioned the stigma. It so impacted me and it was unexpected. In our private life my husband and I are very open about who we are and our lifestyle. Yet, I am a teacher in a rural area with some strong conservative influences. It's been hard to feel connected to coworkers who can be so supportive and caring, but I do not feel I can tell anyone at work.

It's also been very freeing to be completely open with all our relatives. I have the full range of reactions: some feel it is god's punishment, others that its just a disease, and some don't believe AIDS exists. There are a few family members who we don't talk to about HIV because they are offensive, but at least we don't have to hide who we are and still get christmas cards. :-)

What our 8 year old might hear from other kids and families is still an unknown, it's hard to be prepared.
