I's hard to give you a total picture of what to expect. He needs an AIDS specialist for a doctor and he needs to be on medicine for HIV as quickly as possible. This medicine will have to be taken every day of his life but most likely he will be back to a fully functioning person within months. AIDS is not a death sentence any more. It's treatable and controlable. Continue to look around on the internet for more information. This site is one of the better ones but there are many others. The bulletin boards will contain information on how individuals are doing, that may be the first place for you to look, then read about treatment and ouitcome. Good luck and God bless

You said he is on meds, but was that for the meningitis? As anon said. He needs an AIDS specialist. He needs to find out where he is now in respect to viral load, CD4 etc. And if not already, he needs to be on meds to control the virus. None of us can give you a picture of what will happen, but there is a lot that can be done to fight this disease. I know from personal experience with my husband someone can have a viral load in the hundreds of thousands and in his case a cd4 of 7 and still turn it around with the right combination of drugs and proper treatment for OI's. It will be a long, hard road to recovery, but it can happen. Never give up hope! I'll keep him in my prayers.

J.
