My mother was just diagnosed with HIV --she's 65 for god's sake! She said she had sex with a man she met in Florida five years ago--someone her age. No one told her she had to use protection. Are there any other people out there with parents with HIV?? where can they go for support?? Does anyone know of any support groups in southern florida for older people with HIV?

There are so many older people getting infected. Viagra has made older men real promiscous. call the Florida AIDS hotline 800-FLA-AIDS

I just read the following: So your Mom is NOT alone!

Twelve to fourteen percent of all AIDS cases in the State of Florida are among people over 50 years of age, compared with ten percent nationally, according to the Florida Department of Elder Affairs.

The Department recently awarded $170,000 to the activist group Senior
HIV Intervention Project, which was founded by a Fort Lauderdale activist. A second Senior HIV Intervention Project is forming in the Tampa area.
