My boyfriend of 4 years has just been diagnosed with AIDS. He is un-insured/ undocumented and in the hospital(in Los Angeles) and is currently battling toxoplasmosis. He has a very low CD4 count of 23 I want to do what I can do help him. I understand the need for a social network, but I also need honest answers to help me plan for him.
How does one generally plan for the future?
What is his life expectancy so I can plan for him. The current belief/rumor is that he has 4 months to a year, but I need more information (I know this is impossible to tell, but what are the overall general expectations and what are these based on)?
If he gets out of the hospital, Where can he get medications/ services? There are many options out there. How do I begin to Choose?
His family wants him to return to Mexico when he gets out of the hospital. I'm afraid he will not get adequate medical attention in Mexico, but I don't know very much about this. Does anyone have any experiance or guidance on this issue?
