hello my girl friend has full blown aids with a 't'cell count of 30 or so cells and has been in the care of doctors for a week now shes been on all the med's including fustiva and is running fevers and has bad headaces and severe loss of appatite is that it. i'm going to lose her.will a blood transfusion help her.I LOVE HER SO MUCH

Unfortunately, a blood transfusion will not help. I have been HIV positive for two years. The HIV is not only present in the blood but it is also embedded throughout the body. You have to keep your faith though. The meds are so powerful and may help to increase her CD4 and decrease her viral load. She really needs your support right now. Just focus on the good times you had together and pray that the meds are effective. Everyone is here for you.

am sorry to hear about your gf. i have been recently diagnosd positive with hiv. i told my bf just when i found out. i thought i lost everything. and to not be selfish, i didnt expect him to stay, and free him from the burden. but he stayed. i admire your love for her. sometimes all we need is someone to stand by us. best of luck. god bless.

There are many cases like your girlfriend where the person has survived. The medicine she's on is called Sustiva and she should be on two other medications as well. As long she takes her medications every day on time she could do well. Your goal now is to get her tcell count above 200. There are medications for loss of appetite. Transfusions won't help. Make sure she has the best HIV specialist in town. That is someone who treats more then 20 people with HIV and has been doing so for more then 5 years.
