I was active duty during 90-94, and am in the guard now. In Jan 04, I contracted HIV while at military school on orders. Can I get the VA to treat me for HIV? What are my benefits?
Please help me!

Benefits for Army Reserve and National Guard are limited. I am in the Army Reserve and have been HIV+ for two years. The VA will treat you although there are no programs to provide part-time soldiers with meds. You can continue your career providing you stay healthy. The Army just makes you jump through some hoops at your own expense. You are non-deployable. The military is very cautious because of the cost of treating infected soldiers. Best of luck!

Anyone - How do I ensure that when I get out of the military at ETS, that my HIV is a service connected disability? Does this happen at the VA or during a MEB?
