cancer!
      #94871 - 04/10/04 12:34 AM

Hi, I am a nevous 24 year old who has recently developed red-streaked spit in the morning for the past month(happens only once a week) and notice a pain on my right side near my ribs. Could this be lung cancer; I am terrified.

what the hell is wrong with you people?? if you're worried about lung cancer, go to a doctor. but if the doctor tells you it's nothing to worry about, yet it persists, still, spitting a little streaky blood in the morning is NOT enough reason to be worrying about cancer. it's because of stupid hypochondriacs like you that actual sick people like me can't get my doctor's attention.

I am not a doctor, but this could be a symptom of many things, not necessariiy cancer. Could be a treatable pneumonia.
It is definately something you should get medical attention for
ASAP, if nothing else to alleviate your fears, and get treatment for whatever it is. Good luck....

Blood in sputum should always be evaluated. Concern over this is not being hypochondiac. Howver it is much more likely to be something other than cancer. (Mine was caused by TB!)
