I have just been told that I have the following type of skin cancer Squamous Cell Carcinoma. I have been positive since 1989 and my counts are good at this time. I would like to hear from anyone out there who has had the same cancer and how they are doing. I have been looking at the internet about this cancer and it looks OK if you are not HIV+. What I want to know is how do HIV positive people with this type of cancer do in the long term.

This type of skin cancer is the least serious. I have never had it, but from what I read, being HIV positive and on a good drug regimen, squamous cell carminoma is just as rare for an HIV positive person as with someone with a normal immune system. You have just as good of a chance for recovery as a healthy indevidual. Just stay away from smoking and the sun! Good luck to you.
