Response to Live Life, Not Aids

It's true we have to live with this disease instead of dying with
it. But it is also true that in order to do that, we have to take
time to do what we are supposed to, take the meds as directed
religiously, reduce stress, eat properly and be vigilant. This is
a war. We cannot stop being on our guard at any time. I was told
2 years ago that I wouldn't be here by July of 1996. Well, here I
still am. My ex who got me sick keeps asking when am I supposed
to die. The third time he asked I finally said, "Not til I can
dance an Irish jig on your grave." Unbelievable, eh? We have all
come a long way in this disease, the patients, the researchers,
the doctors, our families. If we choose, we can live this disease
much like diabetes is lived, as a chronic manageable disease. We
just have to use our heads....common sense, not act reckless in
our decisions (about sex). I believe that with a little faith, a
lot of vigilance and hard work, we will make it longer than
anyone would have thought. Here's to everyone who is still
fighting the good fight! Happy Easter!
