Confidentiality
My name is Mary, and I am a Nurse Practitioner in pediatric HIV. Because I frequently surf the net looking for AIDS and HIV resources, I have been most curious about this site. Are you ever concerned abou the confidentiality of your posted responses? Have you had any problems related to such issues? I would like to hear from you.

Re Confidentiality and Credibility
When messages are posted to this site, the most that the folks at the Body would be able to log is the source IP address of your connection. Since most Internet Service Providers dynamically assign IP addresses to their dial up modem customers on a call by call basis, the cooperation of your ISP would be required to identify you, as they would have to extract this information from their logs. This isn't something the would do without proper authorization, or a search warrant, etc. from a law enforcement agency, as this would open them up to the potential of a lawsuit for breach of confidentiality. Besides, extracting this information takes a bit of time, and its a pain.
As for credibility, suspect everything, unless you KNOW the source is reliable. This area is for sharing stories and information. It is NOT a medical forum staffed by doctors and specialists. There are other areas on this site which are staffed by experts. Even then, remember, there is so much that we don't know about this disease. Experts were pushing AZT monotherapy years ago...
