What is anyone doing about lipo...my little town docs know nothing and have no suggestion. Cosmetic docs told me know even if i could pay. my legs and arms are gone...my face looks like a sharpei...and my upper stomach is humongus and even effects my breathing. I will take any advice and open to giving my email if need be.

I have just started L-glutamine and that is helping. I would keep trying other opinions from Docs. Ive heard implants in the face can be very obvoius with not very much body fat in the face, so lift and tuck is the best thing. With love David in Honolulu

first of all, what meds are you on? get off zerit if that is in your therapy...it ruined my face, as well as really leaning out the rest of my body. im on abacavir instead now. also im doing a combo of antioxidants, co-q 10, l-carnitine, l-cysteine, b vitamins, and c vitamins. its been about 3 mos now off zerit and am having some minor(?)improvement ( i think ). i also pray shitloads that someday ill be beautiful again! hehe. anybody else have any ideas im all ears!!!! p.s. i got my info from the Q & A here in the wasting/nutrition and side effects forums

I'm in Montreal-Canada. I have been off zerit 3 month ago which i was on for 2 years and it seem to have stop. For what i know, there is not much we can do about it since the fat cells are pretty damaged (and some even dead). I am looking right now for plastic surgery. Anyone know a good plastic surgeon ? I'm willing to travel anywhere if it is well recommended. Thank you for any response.

You guys, we're still here ain't we?! I've got the "buffalo hump" and the "Crix belly", and if vanity is all I have to worry about right now, then so be it. I'm not happy about the loss of normalcy, but, I prefer to worry about other things. Liposuction is only a temporary cure, it's been shown it can come back, so get on with it. We knew we weren't going to be beauties forever!

I had terrible lipodystrophy. I had no cheeks. It hurt to even wash my face and put on my moisturizer. What I did was to switch the meds around a bit and what I also did was to eat high fat foods...potato chips, chips and dip, ice cream, anything and everything with high fat and I sat on my butt and read and watched tv. It took about 6 months but I got my cheeks back. I exercised moderately, only with weights and did some walking with some aerobics with the weights to build my legs and arms back up. I also have peripheral neuropathy, so I'm trying to keep my strength up. But the good news is that I look healthy and normal again, complete with cheeks! Don't do any implant surgery unless what I suggested to you doesn't work.
I wish you all the best of luck and love in the world. It's so frustrating to have to go through all that we do with the medicine and then to lose our looks and most of us are youngish and it's so disheartening. I was told to get a walker when I fell from the neuropathy. And I'm 34! Anyway, good luck. Let us know how you do!

I´m happy to hear you say that, because I´ve been doing the same, eating all kind of fatty foods; bread with loads of butter, milk, chips, loads of meat etc. and have put on 3-4 kg., also sitting around .. Did not have very much lipo but was quite thin. I have also noticed if I stop for a few days I loose weight again .. so I feel happy doing it and keeping the weight!!
