PCR Test for HIV
      #66157 - 06/21/03 10:40 AM

I was exposed to HIV the first week of April. I came down with a condition my Doctor called Acute Sinusitis and Allergic Rhinitis. I feared it was HIV infection. The doctor administered the HIV antibody test after 35 days. It was negative. I was so crazy with fear, he decided to send me in for a PCR test for HIV (which was performed after 68 days). This came back negative as well. I feel like I am infected with HIV because of the many strange problems that keep popping up. Is this PCR test accurate at 65 days, at all?

I have folliculitis, numbness in the feet/hands, cold sores more often than usual. He has had me on many medications during this whole time including antibiotics.

I'm losing my mind wondering. But believe that I am most likely HIV positive. Just not sure if the PCR test really works or not. Anyone know? Thanks! John

Haven't we been through this "worried well" scenario with you before? Relax and go live your life.
