I am taking a class on different forms of discrimination and the topic of HIV and discrimination has not yet been addressed and therefore I am developing a presentation on this topic in order to help increase awareness and sensitivity to this type of discrimination. I am in a Marriage and Family Therapy program which trains therapists and encourages sensitivity and awareness to discrimination so that therapists may work with a variety of clients and be aware of external influences on well-being as well as internal influences. So if anyone is willing to either post their experiences with discrimination or set up a phone interview with me to share experiences i would greatly appreciate any help that i can get. I currently have a lot of information on more obvious forms of discrimination such as denial of treatment but i am interested in the more subtle forms of discrimination and/ or stereotyping that may occur currently especially in the United States. Thanks again.

If i may ask where are you taking that class? I'm a senior student and doing my senior thesis on the same topic, so may be we can work together on this. It's rather personal to me, because a friend of mine has been diagnosed with AIDS and now people won't even shake hands with him - they are afraid to get infected. (!) So I'm doing is an educational campaign. I did a lot of research on this topic, I'm sure you have too, so maybe we can work together and exchange information. I already posted a message here asking people to share their experience, because I also want to include an interview in my final piece So far there was only one response, after all it IS a very sensitive subject and not many people want to talk about it to strangers. So again if you're interested, let me know - reply here.
And also to the rest of you guys - we would really appreciate your help. thank you

I have not done a whole lot of research most of what i have found are different court cases on the subject and one interesting website. i am really interested in the less pronounced forms of discrimination (such as the experience your friend is having) and there is little data i have found on that topic. If you have any articles on that i would love to share with you. I am graduate student at the University of Maryland in the Marriage and Family Therapy program. you can contact me at Rzpooh@hotmail.com. please include the subject of this posting in your email subject as i get a ton of junk mail and have a tendency to delete anything i don't recognize.
