Traveling with HIV
I got a new job where I will be traveling a little bit in Europe. Of course I won't tell the airlines or customs that I have HIV but I will be carrying medications. Does anyone have any experience with this? Can they stop me and question me about my medication? What happens if they find out I have HIV

I would like to write here to my country Sweden In Sweden nobody is in prison becous he is hiv posetiv. no requierment for visa The low aplat to a hiv posetive person to inform his partner. and the docter requier test for the partner too. Infact there are some people in pireson becouis of misbehaieng, Knowingly infected others. Even you can not say real preason just detained them for some 2 to 3 years until the learn responsebilty In teory h+ posetive poeple requiered test and titeled fot treatment When hiv was killer during the past 5 years sweden was the country to give resdent permit for poeple who develops aids. infact aids in Sweden now is not a humanitreain reason to stay now. And imgrant if he is not volentere there will not be obligation test. Now we have a hiv posetiveorganasation who has a sit in the parlament. and if any one has trable at his job becous of hiv he can to legasl action to get back his job. The untedstate is a country which is in human in this case.

On the whole, I would expect Europe to be OK to travel in and that none of our Customs would care about the drugs you carry in terms of Aids prescription drugs. I am sure that UK, Germany and probably Italy are OK. I would be careful in Switzerland (which has retrogressive attitudes to many things) and possibly France (where they are strange about HIV - maybe because of their own huge level of HIV) and Sweden where there is compulsory HIV testing and we are increasingly finding out that positive people are often imprisoned. But, UK, Germany, Austria, Italy, Denmark, Greece etc should be OK. Reply

I have traveled to Europe twice carrying multiple HIV meds including syringes for injection drugs such as Procrit and Neupogen. Most recently was to Paris in April '98. Bags were not even opened by customs inspectors nor was I asked anything. In '95 I visited London, Paris, and Switzerland. No one asked me anything or checked my baggage. I say, just go, have a good time and don't worry about it. Just don't volunteer any information. I'd be more afraid of US customs.
