HIV and legal/financial issues
      #57826 - 02/09/03 01:16 AM

hi guys

anybody know which states have the best health care and support for low-income positives?

i was diagnosed HIV positive last November - now i'm moving back to the U.S. in about two months and am currently looking for a job. i'm trying to figure out which state will have the best options for me in terms of health care, emotional support, and rights.

IS there a law about HIV testing before marriage, for example? Are there states that protect your privacy more than others? I just can't disclose right now; it would devastate my family.

thanks in advance, j

No! of course i would not marry without telling my partner!

i just want to know about my confidentiality rights as specific to each state... of course i would tell my partner, i just don't see why the state needs to know my status, and it worries me. i already have a (negative) fiance who knows and is being very supportive; however both of us feel it is not necessary for the government or health insurance companies to know my status yet. come on... don't you believe positives have the right to some privacy?
