HIV+ GROUP IN JAMAICA

: I am a regular visitor to your site for the information update
and the experiences. I am HIV positive for five years and I am
currently involve in network of persons living with the virus,
Jamaica Network of Persons Living with HIV/AIDS (JN+). I need
information on medication and treatment. This information is
vital as we are advocating for access to affordable medication.
This year signals a the beginning of our expansion campaign to
take JN+ to the other parishes in Jamaica. We will be having a
local consultation for persons living with HIV and we are working
with the National AIDS/STD Control Programme, part sponsors.
However, we are seeking assistance or support from as many
persons and agencies as possible. We need individuals skilled in
counsellors/facilitators training, management training, and
proposal/project writing and design. We are also trying to
establish this network in every parish but we are finding it
extremely difficult and frustrating to get registered, as the
levels of intolerance and stigmatization is very high. We have
arranged numerous meetings with a lawyer but he has not turned
up. The network is therefore seeking to develop fraternal
afiliation with any network of HIV+ persons, individuals, or
organization any where. We have grown weary with the number of
members dying, especially since past three months. Government,
private sector, and many other NGOs do not see HIV/AIDS, support
and medication, as priority. Our focus is to lend support to each
other, and participate in prevention programme. JN+ Motto is
