I do not have Aids, however, it effects me as it effects my brethren..human beings are not carion on the roadside upon which we may sup, spitting out those parts we find distasteful. I just attended a speak-out for two women killed while hiking the Appalachian trail. Much of my sisterhood is appalled that the press will not state that this is a hate crime and these women were murdered because they were lesbians. I am more troubled by the fact that in The United States of America in 1996 someone can be murdered for a belief. The fact that someone can be killed for their love leaves me alexithymic. I know I am dying, so every moment on earth is precious to me. My doctor, three hours before this gathering, told me she was unable to increase my medications any more, for an increase would kill me more rapidly than the disease itself. I walk the woods every day, it instills peace to my soul. My security has been stolen with the death of my sisters. Not because I fear death, but because I would hate to think someone would take away any of my time, without my consent, simply for my beliefs or because I loved someone that others did not agree with. Love, is a treasure rarely found on earth these days. It is not something one is free to control, although they may keep it reigned in. Having spent this lifetime loving men that did not love me, I know how important any mutual love relationship is. 6/11/96 Powerlessness Oh dreams spread far and wide, dreams for whom I've cried, dreams of which I lied, dreams I urged to fly, dreams I've had to justify, dreams I've had to modify, dreams of which I had to notify, dreams which petrify, dreams I've feared to try, they say the eyes belie; I ask why, dream, oh why must they end in a sigh? Extreme Censorship Green, the trees of woodland made. Cloud of morning made them fade. Pink, the hue of eoan sky. Beauty the moments as they tick by. Nature arrayed in her richest dress painted gently by sorceress! Birds, a song of life did sing. Their love to wood did bring. Moss gathered as seat so soft, while skies of blue hung aloft. In peace and love my sisters did walk, ignoring call of the clock. Twine nuptial's garland with wreath of joy, their friendship, happiness did deploy! Utopia, to them did call of Vermont their heart enthrall. Killed for their thoughts were they, evil dawning on that day! Their love, not accepted by all. Some believe vetitive they had, in keeping with the latest fad! They kill those who don't agree! Oh woe is life, for you and me! For love, Lollie and Julianne did die! With them, we bid security good-by! Bracken, the paths of forest floor, call in peace never more! For if my dreams displease. Brethren, the fanatic will seize!
