Have any of you heard of echinacea, and herb that boosts your immune system? It is shown to produce more white blood cells, t-cell, interleukins, etc. However, some say that it is contraindicated in HIV/AIDS because it could give the virus more targets. Has anyone had any experience with it or heard any different?
Thanks,
Pagiya

Same story different herbs , as well as different humans. I take it and is it helping or hurting don't know no doctor will tell you it is good cause no Echinacea "rep" has been to see them and tell them to tell you it is . but as with garlic etc.. even in totally " Normal" individuals out of 100 you will find a few that will have ( or attribute to garlic) an adverse reaction. I would say take it along with meds ( if you are on meds) and try it for a few monthe it will certainally not "Cure" you nore will it "Kill" you !

Allan, you seem to think you know a lot but you really do not. Some doctors know about alternative medications...and often they can interact badly with HIV medications...like a recently published research article shows that garlic supplementation reduces the plasma level of saquinavir, a protease inhibitor.
For more about echinacea all you have to do is do a search here...I found: http://www.thebody.com/nmai/echinacea.html http://www.thebody.com/Forums/AIDS/Switching/Archive/Alternative/Q12850.html
There just have not been many studies showing that alternative medications help a lot with HIV.
