Need to know of any HIV specialists in NY?

I am newly diagnosed HIV + and very frightened. I live in NY (Long Island) and I have no idea what doctor to see...I was given a name of Robert Gayle in manhattan and I have an initial appointment. Please can anyone help? I am very frightened and scared- please help.

Call GMHC in New York 212-807-6655 and talk to them. Call AIDS treatment Data network--800-734-7104
Call the New York AIDS Hotline 1-800-825-5448
Talk to them about treatment options, about doctors
Call also Project Inform: National HIV treatment line: 800-822-7422 to talk about treatment (they are in San Francisco)
It's not enough to just have a good HIV specialist (with at least 15 years experience). You must learn about HIV and the many many options. Don't begin treatment until you take some time to figure this out. Read a lot and talk to the people on these hotlines. You are not alone!!!!!!!!

I was diagnosed about two years ago, I was also scared,but I found a great Doctor. Go to the peter kruger Clinic-Beth Isreal Medical Center. The address is: 317 East 17th Street New york, N.Y. 10002. Telephone# is 1212 420-2620. The front of the building says- The Firman building, When you go in the building go to the left,it is on the first floor.Everyone there is very nice. You feel real comfortable.You will be ok just take your medications when your supposed to and take good care of yourself, Think possitive,After two years, I am doing fine. Good luck...
