I'm new to this message board. I've been taking a four drug cocktail consisting of Zerit, Epivir, Norvir, and Fortovase for one year now. At first I was apprehensive about taking them, because of horror stories I heard about AIDS drugs. I have not experienced any side effects from any of these drugs, and I think that it is weird. All of my blood work is really good and my doctor is very impressed with my recovery, and has told me that my body has responded very well to the drugs. I see him every 3 months and he is really a great doctor. I would like to know if there are other people who are taking these same drugs and have not experienced any side effects either. Thanks!

I started out on AZT, Epivir, adn Crixivan in May of 1997. This worked well, but due to Crixivans effect on my liver counts, I switched to the same regiment that you are currently taking. I have been on it for the last 1 and 1/2 years. I have had absolutely no side effects from them. My viral load has been undetectable since july 1997, and I have seen an increase in my CD4 count of approximately 140. CD4 was 44 in April 1997, at last count, (may 14, 1999) it has risen to 181. My appetite is ravenous, I eat everything I can get my hands on, and have an energy level taht astounds most people. So you're not alone. There are many of us out there, It's just not deemed newsworthy to discuss anything but those who fail at treatment.

Hi, I have been taking the same 4 drugs (Norvir, fortavase, d4t,3tc) for about three years now. Have had no side effects yet...although when i started norvir, iwas a bit more fatigued but that passed after a couple of weeks. My cd4 count has gone from 3 to 478! (yes, 3 when i started) Viral load is undetectable for 3+ years....I also take high doses daily of Vitamin C, alpha lipoic acid, glutathione, and DHEA.
Good luck and all the best to you, Mark

I was taking the exact combination you are. Don't count your chickens just yet. Have you ever heard of neuropathy? Well, I heard of it, and then I got it and it is intensely painful. I take both oxycontin and morphine for the pain, which helps quite a bit, but not all docs are willing to dispense them. One doctor recommended Ibuprofen!! I hope you have a sympathetic doc. You'll find out if you get neuropathy. If tingling or numbness starts in your toes, go off the Zerit and try abacavir.
