Pharmacy Mishaps
      #267388 - 09/27/12 06:34 PM

Once again my pharmacy didn't get it right. I try to deal with only one pharmacist where I order my meds from. Seems everythime I deal with someone else there is a problem, I even had to email the company with one of my complaints. So I wonder how much of these " mistakes " gets billed to medicaid. I double faxed , called and mailed out my hard copy. So now they got to get in touch with doctor for verification. Get it's time for another e-mail to the top. Meanwhile I'm without the meds that I need.

Most HIV specialist accept Medicare. That said there is new rules that state all Medicare providers need to use e-script for prescriptions or face fines or cuts in reimbursements. I would talk to your dr about using e-scripts and find a pharmacy such as Walgreens or Cvs to fill it. They both have it the both accept Medicaid. And they both will do 90 day supplies. They also alert the dr when a script runs out on last refill. I use Walgreens on private insurance and use the escript they call the dr when I fill my last refill and get them to order more and my dr does it by computer. I just have to refill when I'm 10 days away from being out and pick it up 2 days later. Hell I don't even talk to the pharmacy I do the refill from a phone app. Plus they send me reminders that its time to refill.

2 yrs on meds and haven't missed a day. Makes life easy and one less thing to worry about. Just a suggestion.

Thanks Kicker , I'll definitly look into that . Granted I like the fact that it gets mailed right to my door , haven't had to wait in a line in a long time. I'll see if the health dept . has e-scripts, Never heard of them and I don't know how it works or even what it looks like , but I'll still ask.

It's kinda like a secure email. The dr signs up for the service and it connects them to any pharmacy that is also connected. They sign in type out the script and send it to your pharmacy. All done by computer and the Internet over a secure system.

I started off with paper scripts but this new system is great. I live like 40 minutes from my dr (only 15 miles but I live in metro Atlanta so it's a 40 minute drive with traffic and stoplights) and I love I don't have to hound them for refills or go pick them up or have to deal with waiting at the pharmacy to get it filled. Like I said I get an email saying hey it's time to fill. I say go ahead through a phone app and then wait till they send me an email saying its filled. I go to the drive thru. And I'm done. No lines, no back and forth phone calls, no worry. It is great.

My dr decided to do it with all his patients cause it makes things easier for them too. They don't get a full vm box anymore for people calling about scripts. He said it has improved adherence and his staff spends 5 minutes refilling scripts rather than the 40-50 minutes it use to take and they are able to focus on the patients more. He is quite happy with the system as am I. (I took it one step further and do all my refills through the app which means I don't have to wait to talk to someone)

I hope they do have it where you go. I can't tell you how much I love it and I'm sure if you get to use it you will love it too.

well that really bites the big one. if i were you i would be complaining to all holy heck.
i used to have that issue with a couple pharmacies back when i was first diagnosed. now my doctors office has a pharmacy directly downstairs from the office. also all the profit goes back into the business so cost are low as possible. they even dont charge on the co pays, the biggest plus is they deliver right to the front door.
maybey your doctors office can help point you in the direction of the pharmacies they deal with the most to help better serve you, you can ask them because this cant continue if your health is to be maintained properly.
the constant adding of paper work probably doesnt help but still if your in the healthcare industry you would hope to be presice on the job your doing. i wish you luck, never be affraid to complain it sometimes wakes up those lazy people

Believe me I do not hesitate to send an email to the company. I may come off as a kitten but get me upset and the lion does react. I still will keep my compsure but there is no mistaking what my growl means. I even recieved an e-mail apologizing from the one that I always have a problem with. I firmly believe that if you ot a job to do then do it right . No half stepping or sliding or making excuses. Just do it as I do when I'm working. It's called ethics.
