Hello,
I was diagnosed with gonorrhea last Saturday. I was given a shot and I'm taking medication. I'm feeling alot better, but I have to finish my medication for another week.
As of April, 2012, my CD4 count was over 2,000 and my viral load was less than 20.
Did I destroy my CD4 & Viral Load counts due to getting gonorrhea or will I be OK? I'm seeing my doctor on Oct. 8th.

It's possible that your cd4 dropped a little and your viral load spiked a little or that your viral load stayed the same and your cd4 dropped a little or nothing happened.
When you get an infection for anyone positive or not your cd4 count goes down. By how much depends on the length of infection, your immune system, type of infection, and genetics. It will rebound as soon as you cure the infection either naturally or through medication.
Your viral load can spike even on meds when you have an infection this has been documented through studies. But will go back to undetectable as soon as the infection is cleared. The reason for this is the meds don't do all the work your immune system does kill off HIV as well just not effectively without medication. If its busy with a new infection it has trouble waging multiple wars so it choices to fight the new one first and the old one second. Doesn't mean the meds aren't working or that you will have med failure. The spike wouldn't be much at all. Maybe instead of having under 20 copies you have under 50 or under 100. Again it depends on the same factors as that of your immune system.
The important part is you resolved the current infection ASAP. The longer you go with a new infection the more the numbers change. But sounds to me your fine and will show undetectable and average cd4 count for you on your next blood work up. Just FYI your cd4 will bounce around even without an infection as long as the drop isn't huge like going from 2000 to 500 then there isn't anything to worry about. It can vary by a couple hundred points and still be perfect.

Hi Newbie,
I've been taking Atripla for 6-7 years now. The only problem I have with the drug is that I need to take sleeping pills with it. If I don't take sleeping pills, I have a hard time falling asleep because the Atripla makes me dizzy and unable to fall asleep.
