I don't know if you are still looking into this or if you've already developed your site since it has been almost a year since you posted...but I just ran across your post today.

The dating sites that currently exist work fine as dating sites generally do....you end up with your scam artists, your dirt bags, your crazy people and then occasionally you run across someone decent. No dating site can completely control the personality defects of the people who may sign up on their site.

I will tell you what I, personally, would like to see that doesn't exist on any of the sites that I've tried and I've tried almost all of them.

What should come standard is search by location, sexual preference, age and by condition (if you opt to create a site for more than HIV/AIDS specifically - like if you chose to include people with Herpes or HPV, etc). Obviously, as you stated, there are many people who do not post pictures because some of the sites are not secure....if you google search someone's email address on some of these sites it will show up that they are a member within the google search.... if you want people to feel secure in posting pics (which is truly the only way to run a successful dating site) you MUST ensure security of membership. A "flirt" or whatever you call it on your site should be a basic item (problem with those preset ones...they never really say what I would say or what I want to say - it would be nice if on a free membership you could have a set number of characters to create your own flirt,). The ability to interact through messaging as long as one of the two people is a paid member.

What I would like to see is a dating site that interacts kind of like a FaceBook (there is a community called HIV/AidsTribe that is not specifically a dating site...but it allows for that type of interaction... you get to add music and pictures to your page and people can comment on your page)... that would be a really nice paid member option.... In my opinion....something more like this but with the specific intent of DATING/RELATIONSHIP... would give me an opportunity to really get a feel for a person...through what they post, their responses to others.... I think dating sites are plenty enough for HIV+ people.... if all you want to do is create a simple dating site....people will use it and you will make some money but you will end up with the same losers as exist on the other sites.... with zero "success" stories or real "matches" - if you want to be able to honestly boast that your site is better than the rest of the sites.... I suggest having membership allow some creative interactive freedoms. I myself despise the chat rooms...I never go in them but a more controllable interactive environment would greatly appeal to me - which is why I say a page with features like FB has.... where someone can post status updates and other paid members can comment on posts and conversations can begin. Where people have the ability to "like" (or something similar to) a status or a comment... features like that would be nice.
