Does anyone know how to prevent getting shingles the second time. I had them Dec 2010 . Now my face has healed but I was told I can get them again.
Is there anyway of preventing getting shingles again?

Although there is a shingles vaccine it is not typically recommended for HIV+ individuals. Your doctor may decide the risks are worth the treatment however. This vaccine can reduce or prevent further break outs.
Also it is recommended that a diet with lots of B vitamins and a healthy lifestyle that promotes immune health is able to prevent a occurrence of shingles.

had it once myself, my doctor at the time told me stress is a big contributing factor, as well as general health issues that can make it come back. i had it before i was tested for hiv, so im not to sure about the vaccine issue, maybe you should have a conversation with your treating physician. i do know they are painfull and ichy like crazy.

The scarring! That's what I'm dreading most...I spoke with my physician and did some lil research on the vaccine. Its contradicted to ppl with HIV..I guess my best bet rt nw is avoiding stress at all cost...thank u
